Why are we so addicted to games and how our mind plays tricks on us

I am fascinated with things of the mind, but basically it’s more my mind that I wonder about the most. I wonder why I do the things I do, or why I do the things I don’t want to do. Then there is philosophy behind my reasoning and how I attempt to justify my actions.

I have to ask myself, “Why do I(we) do things when we try so hard not to do them”

I love video games. I have played them since I was a child. I can’t wait to end the day with a nice cup of coffee and sitting on my couch with my laptop playing my favorite video games while watching TV.

Then it dawned on me…

Everything I love to do (and even just quoted) are the exact same thing. Wait for it…

They are all stimulants.

Anything that is a stimulant is going to affect your brain in a way that will basically make you feel good. It is called “euphoria”. It’s basically a drug that your own brain produces to give you that good feeling inside…or so you think.

You may have heard of Alcohol being a stimulant (which it is) but so are many other things that we do not realize. Just like the things I mentioned before that are my favorite to do at the end of my day like Coffee, playing video games, watching TV. Along with that there are many others like drugs, sex, running, work and even anxiety WHAT? Yes anxiety can cause your brain into a?euphoria, makes you wonder if people who suffer from anxiety are trapped in the their body in which their mind craves the?euphoria that comes with it.

Euphoria on the brain will always cause your mind to want more, and when you wonder why do I do things that I don’t want to do you have to wonder how much of it is more your mind than you?

When talking with some of my entrepreneur friends from time to time the conversation seems to always fall into starting a business that relates to?euphoria. For instance starting a coffee shop, selling alcohol, creating a game app and so on. I always so if you want to always have comfort in starting a business, start it where people are addicted. It’s a gold mind.

Video games are a 25.3 billion dollar industry a year.

If I could have just been the one to create?the first scrabble word finder?so all those words with friends addicts could have cheated with my app. Wishful thinking I guess.

Video games tend to put us in a fantasy world and make us believe that we are the one’s who are really living it, but at the same time there are many reasons why todays games are so much more addicting and why video game companies use this to their advantage to get us to play more and buy more. Here are a few things that cause us to get so addicted to video games.
